Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
This has been a tough period for several people I know. Families have been grieving the death of loved ones. Two families are grieving the loss of sons. I can only imagine the pain they are enduring. It is a reminder of how fragile and uncertain life truly is.
Have you told your loves ones how much you love them? Fathers, have you spent quality time with your children? Husbands, have you hugged your wives? Do not think that you have forever to do so. Tomorrow is not promised. Do not waste an opportunity to show love, especially to the ones dearest to you. So take each day as if it is your last. Never let a day go by without saying ‘I love you’ to the ones who means the most. Taking the time to do so is priceless!
Dear Father, thank you so much for my family. It is truly a blessing to have them in my life. Time with them is a gift, and I will strive to make the most of that gift. Forgive me for the times I have taken my family for granted, and help me to love them in a way that honors you. In Jesus name. Amen.
